- All App Store subscriptions — Apple's and third-party — are managed in one place: Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Apple can only cancel subscriptions purchased through the App Store. Services you signed up for on their website are managed by that service, not Apple.
- Cancelling iCloud+ downgrades storage immediately, but your data isn't deleted for 30 days.
- Family Sharing subscriptions can only be cancelled by the family organizer who purchased them.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
This is the primary method for cancelling any Apple-billed subscription. It covers iCloud+, Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, and any third-party app subscriptions you started through the App Store.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the very top — this is your Apple ID.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Find the subscription you want to cancel and tap it.
- Tap Cancel Subscription (or Cancel Free Trial if still in a trial).
- Confirm when prompted.
After cancelling, the subscription shows an expiry date — that's when your access ends. You keep full access until then.
Cancel on Mac via App Store
You can manage your subscriptions from a Mac using the App Store app.
- Open the App Store app on your Mac.
- Click your name or profile picture at the bottom left of the sidebar.
- Click View Information at the top right of the screen.
- Scroll down to the Subscriptions section.
- Click Manage next to Subscriptions.
- Click Edit next to the subscription you want to cancel.
- Click Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Cancel Using iTunes on Windows
If you're on a Windows PC and use iTunes to manage your Apple account, here's how to access your subscriptions.
- Open iTunes.
- Click Account in the menu bar at the top.
- Click View My Account and sign in if prompted.
- Scroll down to the Settings section.
- Click Manage next to Subscriptions.
- Click Edit next to the subscription you want to cancel.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
Cancel via appleid.apple.com
If you don't have access to an Apple device or iTunes, you can manage some subscriptions from the web.
- Go to appleid.apple.com in any browser.
- Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
- Scroll down to the Subscriptions section if it appears.
Note: The web interface at appleid.apple.com has limited subscription management compared to the iPhone Settings app. For full control, the iPhone/iPad method is more reliable.
Cancelling iCloud+ Specifically
iCloud+ works slightly differently from other Apple subscriptions because it's tied to your storage — here's what happens when you cancel.
Storage downgrade is immediate. The moment your iCloud+ subscription ends, your storage limit drops to the free 5 GB tier. If you're storing more than 5 GB — which most iPhone users are — this has immediate consequences.
What stops working right away:
- iCloud backup stops if your backup exceeds 5 GB
- New photos stop syncing to iCloud Photos if you're over the limit
- iCloud Drive file syncing pauses
Your data is not deleted immediately. Apple keeps your existing data for 30 days after cancellation. During that window, you can resubscribe to restore everything. After 30 days, Apple may permanently delete data beyond the 5 GB free limit.
Before cancelling iCloud+: Download any important photos, documents, or backups to your local device first. Don't rely on the 30-day window if you're serious about keeping your data.
Family Sharing Subscriptions
If your household uses Family Sharing, subscription management works differently depending on who purchased what.
Subscriptions purchased by the family organizer and shared with family members can only be cancelled by that organizer. Individual members see these in their Subscriptions list but have no cancel button — they can only leave the Family Sharing group.
Subscriptions you purchased yourself — even if you're a family member, not the organizer — appear in your own Subscriptions list and you can cancel them independently.
To cancel a shared subscription as the organizer: follow the standard iPhone cancellation steps (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions). Shared subscriptions are marked with a sharing icon in the list.
Track what you kept — and get alerted before the next renewal
SubPlus tracks every subscription you pay for, alerts you before renewals on your schedule, and shows exactly where your money goes — no bank access needed.
